Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of job stress and coping on organizational socialization of newly commissioned nursing officers in Korea.
Methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional descriptive study. Data were collected from 70 Army, Air Force, and Navy nursing officers who had worked for less than a year in the military healthcare settings, using a self-reported questionnaire composed of items about general characteristics, job stress, coping, and organizational socialization.
Results: The organizational socialization score presented a significant negative correlation with the job stress score but had no correlation with the coping score. Job stress and coping scores had a statistically significant negative correlation. Job stress was a significant predictor of organizational socialization in newly commissioned nursing officers.
Conclusion: The results of the study will be used as basic data for supplementing and developing strategies to facilitate newly commissioned nursing officers' organizational socialization.
